Just did a blasphamous act of installing Windows Vista on my new MacBook Pro 2.53GHz model.
Everything performs just fine (not as inĀ Freaked out, Insecure, Neurotic and Emotional) but Excellent, really, however, when I tried to access the system performance rating I got a rating of 1
.
Now, this is simply impossible, especially since when booting in Vista the system automatically uses the faster Nvidia 9600M GT card with 512MB RAM. This baby should fly, rite? While it certainly does, Vista does not wish to give it a passing grade ![]()
If the graphics performance was accessed correctly, I would guess the whole system score would be at least 5, if not a bit higher. It certainly feels that the machine really flies, and I’d know: my other machine is liquid cooled 4GHz Core 2 Duo based on Nvidia 790i running 64bit Vista with 4GB of RAM and VelociRaptor drives.
Check out the screenshot for the system rating. Everything other than graphics shows up not too shabby.
Stay tuned for a in-depth review on how Vista runs on new MacBook Pros. Sincerely - I love it ![]()

It shows a rating of 1 because secretly the Windows OS knows your running it on an apple machine.
Like, no kidding!
Nuts… It must be the new chipset + new graphics card, but I haven’t heard anyone else report this, even though Engadget and some others tested some games in Windows. Strangely they did not check the Rating?
I like my desktop: 5.9
I am getting the same rating on my 2.53 ghz MBP. E-mail me if this is a problem/concern. Thanks
Did you get the latest drivers? I installed this on the very same day new MBPro just came out so I do not know if anything has been updated. I do not care really, I’m running Leo on a Mac for now - Waiting for Windows 7
